Vista power save doesn't work

I remember reading a while ago that certain programs actually block Vista from enabling Power save mode and that there is a way around it. Problem is, I can't remember where I read that.

As it is now, my monitor will not go into power save regardless of how long I leave my computer idle. Is there any way to disable Vista from staying "un-idle" from the various processes running?

That's wierd It should go into power save mode even if you haven't touched any of the power functions. Mine does - I'm not sure if that's because I streamed Service Pack 1 into my Vista Ultimate DVD.

But it should, regardless.

Problem is, it used to (power save) with my old Sony monitor, but not with my Hanns-G. But if I log off and let it sit idle, the power save will work. So I don't know why my old Sony would go into power save while logged on as opposed to the Hanns-G.

Unless it's coincidental and I installed something since switching monitors which prevents Vista from going into "idle" mode due to the process running.

Do you know if there is any drivers that came with the monitor to install? I know color profiles are with some monitors like the one I'm on now, plus other features in some cases.

Hehe I am in the exact opposite position. Vista goes into power save, but when it wakes up, nothing on the monitor (not even a signal).
