Looking for a netbook

Thread Starter
Hey guys, Im looking into getting a netbook, but dont know of many except of the asus eee. So far I have seen the asus eee, everex cloudbook, the hp one, and the ctl. It defiantly cant be bigger than 12.1' and has to be cheap, like sub $700. Im really liking the Everex Stepnote but there are 4 different models and I can't seem to find a price for them.

I'd recommend the Asus EEE 4G, upgrade to 2 gigs of ram, and get a 8 gig Card to get a total of 12 gigs of Space

what about the everex stepnote? I've heard even the 8" Eee can be uncomfy. Plus since my dads flipping the bill and says even thought it will be mine it will kinda be a family computer, so I'm quickly doubting the eee to be friendly with them. My dads 6"5 I dont know If 7" could work for him, but then again the smallest notebook I've used in person was 12.1" and that was shortly in Fry's

I would advise you to wait until Christmas season... if you can't, wait until back to school. The Atom and Nano processors have just been released and it will take time for them to hit the market. I personally will wait until early 2009 when new efficient Northbridges are available.
Once again...

I have an EEE 2G Surf and it is pretty much awesome for surfing and general use. I am thinking about getting the 900 model soon since it has a bigger (8.9") screen and a bigger touchpad. The tiny touchpad is my only complaint with the original EEE.

The atom is already out, and the wind which is hitting the U.S. market sometime this month will have it, but I agree. This isnt something im getting tommorrow, but definatly within a 3 months, so if anything new comes out by back to school I'll have my eye on it. Also what do you mean new efficient NB's will be out? Whats the talk about them, any performance gains, will they have better integrated graphics?

http://www.msimobile.com/DetailPage....ind_NB_Windows

I was considering the eee, but the wind has a slighly bigger chassis and at 10' the keyboard is supposed to be bigger. It also has an overclock button to oc the 1.6 atom to 1.9!! That alone has me looking at it, I mean I don't know much about these new netbook cpu's but I would image a 1.9ghz atom will stomp a 900mhz eee cpu.
