DFI Dark for Newbie Overclocker

As you can see in my sig, I am currently in the process of planning out what to get for my first PC build. I wanted to save a bit of money and I am thinking about swapping out my IP35 for a DFI DK P35 T2RS. Besides losing eSATA, firewire, and dual ethernet, I have heard that I may have a large learning curve in front of me. Does anyone have any advice for me (the newbie oc'er) on whether to stick with the Abit or take the plunge (and save some $$) with the DFI? Will the lesser amount of power phases affect my quad overclocking? Does anyone know a DFI P35 T2RS guide? Also, I just want to confirm that the Noctua NH U12 P will fit on the DFI. It says it will on the Noctua website, but how about experience from you guys out there? Thanks for all the help guys.

If you're new to overclocking, working with a DFI BIOS will just confuse you. I would stick to the Abit and later once you have some experience to go with the DFI.

Would you recommend the ASUS P5K-E WiFIi? It has more power phases, but it seems to be less popular. Does anyone know why?

I would NOT recommend my motherboard, I've had to RMA it twice already.

The BIOSs are also buggy as hell, I cannot disable C1E and the newest BIOS wont recognize that my keyboard is plugged in.

I just read this post on PC Perspective - http://forums.pcper.com/showpost.php...3&postcount=17 and its got me shaking in my boots. Is the quality really that bad? Does someone who bought this board recently experienced any of these problems? Would anyone recommend the Gigabyte EP35 DS4 over the Abit? Just trying to see pros and cons of everything.

That's just one bad experience, most people would swear to the Abit

I would disagree ( mildly). While the DFI boards offer a very wide array of tweaking on their boards, they tend to be simple for basic use. You can tweak them as much , or as little , as you like. 2 caveats, though. DFI boards tend to be very fussy about power supplies, so investigate that issue before you buy, and they can be tricky with RAM modules , as well. This is a very good forum to use as a resource for DFI boards. If I were you, I'd spend some time perusing that forum before making the decision about my motherboard. I'd also consider Gigabyte's offerings.............

How is the Gigabyte EP35 DS4? It doesn't rank as high in ratings as the abit on newegg, but is there anything bad about the gig?
