DFI Dark for Newbie Overclocker - Page 3

The DFI has 4 fan controllers, other than the CPU fan, on the board

I love my DFI board. Not only could I get a 1GHZ OC on stock voltages, it looks pristine as well!! Check out THIS thread for a close encounter!!

How do you control the fans onboard? Do I need to go to BIOS every, single time? Also, would the Noctua NH U12P be good to OC a Q6600 to 3.4 or 3.6? Would something cheaper (Tuniq) be effective? I want temps as low as possible. Will the massive NB hs get in the way? The Noctua website said its cooler should work fine.

You can use speedfan or SmartGuardian.

Phospholipid (or however you spell it) put one of those on a Blood Iron (thread soemwhere) which has the exact same NB heatsink, so i reckon you'll be alright.

3.4 should be fine, i made it there on my e6600 with the minimum of fuss.

Can speedfan properly and accurately control fan speeds on the DFI?
You could look at the Xigmatek 120mm Rifle Cooler for a great cooler to use with your Dark. And while the BIOS can be a bit daunting, it's still proven to consistently get some of the highest overclocks, so there's a good excuse to just bite the bullet and do it.
