NB/SB Cooling for ASUS Rampage Motherboard

Thread Starter
Hi, Guys I'm currently running the New X48 Maximus Rampage, I have been overclocking my motherboad and been pretty successful. today was the first time I was playing AoC and I had my computer shut down, I turned it back on to check the temps and the NB/SB reached over 90 degrees C. I backed down the voltage and got to thinking is there anyone who has some good cooling devices that they put on their NB/SB? I wouldn't mind watercooling them, but Aircooling would be much better since its really easy to put on.

Well have you tried ASUS Optional Fan for the PWM heatsink, it help a bit or put a 40 -60mm fan right above the NB heatsink.

You may have to change TIM and reseat that Heatsink.

How high NBvolt do you run?

It seems that you are pretty high, you don´t need to push higher then 1,45 in most cases, but I don´t know how hard you push that Clock Twister, Common Performance Level or Pull Ins on those memory.

I can recommend to go with water on the NB, I´m never above 35C under load even with 1,71 volt.

BTW, the Maximus Rampage is what we call a Maximus Formula (X38) flashed with the Rampage Formula (X48) bios.

Anyhoo, the EK-NB ASUS S-MAX was designed for the Maximus and Rampage Formula boards.

What board are you getting? The Maximus II Formula (P45) or the Rampage Extreme (X48) or do you have one of the two boards mentioned earlier?

If you don´t what to have a block that´s specially for this board you can use this Koolance CHC-122 block and it´s very flexible, I have one on my Rampage and I have used it on XFX 680i LT, Striker Extreme and Gigabite GA-680i-DQ6, it´s low flow restriction.

or this Swiftech MCW30 Chipset cooler, it´s also low flow restriction.
