i want ONE thing in this new Crysis... knife kills. im talking like a big bad-arse rambo knife with awesome stealth kill animations and everything.

all the "oh its so unoptimised" and "oh i cant run it" complaints can get filed under "I" for ...well, think about it

just gimme a dam knife.

It's not perfect, but what Valve has put together is an incredibly efficient way to distribute games and by nature of the system cut down on piracy. Mutually better for both end-user and publisher.

I lol at that pretty hard. So Crysis 1 and 2 will be pc exclusive = more horsepower for better graphics(the only thing the game has going for it). Then on Crysis 3 they are going to scale it back for consoles? Due to piracy after they just bragged about selling 3+ million copies?

They have some real winners in charge over there. The kind that wear football helmets indoors I mean.

I currently have trouble playing Crysis on my computer. I purchased it via EALink and every time I try to launch it it gives me the "No CD inserted" complaint.

I can sometimes launch it from EA Link but that doesn't allow me to choose between 32/64bit and DX9/DX10. I also cannot run the Crysis benchmark.

I like Steam and I have quite a few games on Steam. However by biggest complaint is that the games are not transferable, meaning that they lose their value 100% after I purchase it.

Steam downloads are very slow for me and the download status always seems to freeze.

I will buy any game released by Valve, because I know it will be a piece of art...and I do own every valve game ever made...
You you have seen CryEngine2 code?

On top of that, if it weren't to be exclusively on Steam, then chances are it would take time to modify the patches for the Steam version, leaving people who bought the Steam version behind a couple of days.

And that's not forgetting that you need a credit card, and are willing to wait one to four hours for the game to download when you could likely just buy it from a store within walking distance.

Also, this whole thread is wrong. According to the interview (Which has been posted), Crysis 3 will be the last PC exclusive game by Crytek.

"all new franchises we develop in the future will be created with a cross platform strategy in mind."
Steam downloads very slow for me.

Interesting that you have download issues with Steam, Paul. In my experience, they're one of the faster places I download from. Are you on a University connection or private?

I have downloaded from both my university and my private connection (10MB down / 512kb up). Both are incredibly slow to the tune of about 15kb/s

As long as the PC version of future games doesn't suffer, I see no problem with Crytek including console ports. I just hope that it doesn't turn into PC games being ported from the console.......because we all know how that turns out...

I bought my copy via EA Link as well, and I had the issue you describe. The only way I could get the game to load without the "please insert disc" message was to click on the autorun icon in the EA Downloader temp files folder, then click play......I guess this emulates the autoplay function of the disc.

I think the 1.2 patch broke this.....I'm about to test it again, as I reinstalled Crysis the other day....

On the Steam note I have an 8.5 Mb/s down, 500kb/s up private connection and I get 350-850 kB/s with Steam.....so something is definitely up. You might want to check your connection settings in Steam, as they may be limiting you....I've heard that can cause issues if it's set too low.

Hopefully these guys will optimize Crysis 2, using all 4 cores and the latest DX settings. Then just to be cool make it 64-bit exclusive, just to get people out of their slumber, AGAIN.

Well I just tested it and I can't run Crysis with the icon. MEH
