So true!

The only problem I am having with steam is I can't get it to back up, which I like to do so I avoid downlaoding the 30 games, okay more like 20 but still.

Edited to add: I really hope this games is as good looking as the first but runs on more systems at better rates and resolutions.

Steam was annoying in the begginning, well beginning for me back in 03. Its great now EXCEPT they choose the DUMBEST time to download client updates. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING!!!! Nothing happens when I open steam but as soon as I start CS:S it starts downloading so when I join a server I have over a 400 ping, annoying as hell!

Other then that I bought HL2, Ep. 1, and CS:S through steam and it was fine same with audiosurf(amazing $10 game!). Also activated Ep.2, Portal, TF2, and DOD:S just fine through steam for free with the nice coupon that came with my vid card

I'm old school so regardless of how convenient Steam may be I still prefer having disks and being able to play while not connected to the Internet.
There is a saying in my country: "What you have in your hand is no lie" and I think it applies well to this situation.

No it does not. I'm picky about that sort of thing, and I run Steam. It didn't seem to do anything to my Internet settings.

Steam gives you a single place to download demos, play games, and have a digital locker for your games that will install them on any computer you setup your account on, meaning no more lost disks. I'm never going back. I sure hope Warhead comes out on Steam.

well i tried downloading Bioshock off steam again yesterday and day before, and it wont go above 80-100 kb/sec .. its only with this game it seems though.

would that mean the servers are chockers?

i have ADSL2 connecting at ~11246 up. i usually download at anywhere between 1mb and 1.1mb / sec .. depending on the site.

steam is otherwise usually perfect.

Yeah, Steam does seem to be slow for some people, and I'm glad I'm not one of them! I had to download CS:S about 4 times already. I got VAC banned for hacking before as well and had to redownload. *blush*

I <3 steam, the client alone made me download HL 2 & EP1, audiosurf, Grid, TF2, Portal.

When my web-browsing, utorrents, and downloads slow to a snail's pace, steam remains 330kb/s all the time, i really can't understand it. I downloaded grid overnight, thats 10gb overnight. I bet fewer people will pirate games too if they are available to buy/download, i know i would.
