the build has not been entered in more than one previous MOTM
I'm glad, I have seen more that one that deserves to win, but there was 2 competing that were way above everyone and it was close between the two.
It is not a sponsored mod
What if a person owns a company or is an Artisan, are they considered sponsored?
Sponsored will be defined as it is for the regular vs. sponsored sections on the site.
o It is not posted on any other forums
Why not? Like my current build, is on going and on 4 forums now, but i update each one at the same time. I think it should be "as long as they are not in any prized competition on another forum (in that they may receive a prize on multiple sites)".
Also, anyone who gets PAID to do mods, like Bill for example, should not be allowed. I think that falls under "owns a company" and IS a sponsored mod in that the case may be done for a manufacturer to display at a show. If youre getting paid to do a mod for someone on here, the mod should be placed under the owners name not the builder, but should be allowed as the mod is usually the concept of the owner not so much the person doing the work.
The reasoning behind allowing only OCN exclusive builds is because the original reason for MOTM was to bring more traffic to the site. If the logs are posted everywhere there is no reason for the management to give us the money for prizes.
I will have to check with Tator Tot for each of those cases, but as a general rule it will be as I said above, based on which sub forum they are required to post in.
I severely disagree with one person's idea being executed by another person and then winning a contest that is supposed to be based on a person's own skills. I feel like if the ideas are all one person's but the work is another's that the build will simply not be eligible. I will still allow things like having panels laser cut by someone else, as that still requires the skill to make the drawings and is limited only by access to the machine.
