Online doesn't help me LOL, I still have no idea if it'd be what I'm looking for in terms of brightness, no darkening at the top, glossy, etc etc.

Damn, I hope I can get a deal on the Dell's. HP might be a good idea, considering they DID make my laptop LOL. (I should take my lappy apart and find out who makes this LCD, my last HP lcd was a phillips if I recall correctly cause I had to replace it myself once). Their 22" had good reviews it looked like too, wodner about the 24".

I know this is crazy, does Phillips make monitors? Cause my TV is Phillips and I <3 it and my old laptop had a great screen too.

Ok so I've learned Philips does make monitors and the reviews are good. Who the heck sells em?

Viewsonic monitors tend to be EXCELLENT. Desktop monitors don't vary a lot in resolution for a given size, though; 95% of 22'' monitors are going to be 1680x1050.

To be honest, I feel that text is way too small on super-high resolution notebook monitors- I could see how that would be nice for gaming, but as a programmer I need to be able to read quickly and easily without straining my eyes.

is a wonderful monitor with a relatively high resolution for it's size.

good luck!

Hi def content can't be gotten with the 20"/22" screens though right? I'd need a 24"?

Anything dell sells on their site would be good right now.

I love the tiny text, I couldn't stand anything bigger, LOL.

I've been looking at: DELL ULTRASHARP 2408WFP but I can't see it in person I don't think. Anyone have this? Is it glossy screened and bright? It's 575 so I want to make sure it's gonna be what I want.

Going to go check out the HP tomorrow.
