You going to be watching TV on this thing? cuz then you'll need a tuner card

You might want to consider a DDR3 version of that 8600GT, it makes a big difference even if it has less memory.

maybe for a gaming rig, definitely not for a HTPC

get an HDTV tuner card and you are set!

adding to dearkspear, this one you should probably be looking at. Comes with the Zalman Fan (quieter) , better memory, and cheaper (after rebate)

I would strongly suggest you look into AMD's 780g motherboards along with a 45w dual core X2 processor instead. It'll save you money, and you can use the onboard video. It'll work absolutely great for HTPC use, even if you're doing HD content. Most HTPC's actually are even downclocked and undervolted to save on heat.

Just my $0.02 though . If you'd rather blow the money on a C2D, and an extra graphics card (which means even more heat inside the case), then go for it.

Does the amount of onboard memory matter? The one I chose had 512 vs the 256 of this one. And I wont be using a tuner (for the suggestion I get one). I download tv shows and will probably use this thing with a blu-ray in the future, dvds, gaming, etc. No cable tv though, so dont really care about a tuner.

Interesting suggestion for the AMD. Got any suggestions on a micro atx mobo cheaper than $69? And a recommended processor for under $119? These are the prices I have for those components, with the additional $85 for the graphics card.

I actually cannot play back HD content (a 23gig file) with an AMD 3200+ with a x800pro 256m ATI card. But I can with a better system, I tried. Im not sure onboard video can handle that.
