Well my suggestions

Lord of the Rings soundtracks
Anything by Clint Mansell
As already suggested anything by Hans Zimmer (I suggest one song that I forget the name of from the Tears of the Sun soundtrack)
Batman Begins (falls under Hans Zimmer but I feel it needs said specifically)
Pretty much any big hollywood movie has a pretty decent score that you can find some gems from.

Oh, and epic song to end

The soundtrack to Requiem for a Dream and Requiem for a Dream: The Remix Project might interest you.

To add to Nammy's Beethoven recommendation, Symphonies 5-9 are all superior to the first four in my opinion.

Power metal is pretty epic generally, but bands like Rhapsody, Kamelot, and Dragonforce can become tedious after a while.

+1 for post-rock, try out Do Make Say Think as well. I prefer them to most of the other bands I've listened to in the genre so far (though I must admit I haven't delved terribly far in yet).

Oh man! An epic song thread and I wasn't invited? Epic songs are my absolute favorite! I have a whole playlist of them

Here's a few that weren't already in this thread (or I missed them):

I have a LOT more, of even more genres, tell me what you like if any and I'll try to find more Apologies if any of these were already posted and I missed them. (Some were, but were vague, like [w/e movie soundtrack])

Oh, and Requiem for a Tower is probably my absolute favorite epic song.

The soundtrack for the game Total Annihilation is pretty amazing, really epic and expansive orchestral music.

Halo Soundtracks. Seriously. They are the only thing I have been listening to for the last few weeks. EXTREMELY epic. The best songs were re-created on Halo 3, so just by the Halo 3 Soundtrack. It's also a bit techy. Also, the Mass Effect Soundtrack is good, I hear.
