Strange, hmmm

And you have disabled the following you said.

Advanced CPU Configuration

C1E Suppport : Disabled
CPU TM Function : Disabled
Vanderpool Technology : Disabled
Execute Disable Bit : Disabled
Max CPUID Value Limit : Disabled

This was a tough one, have to think some more.

Yeah, I've disabled those.

Here is how it happened if that helps.
Built the system --> BIOS upgrade from 0603 to 0704 ---> overclocked to 3.0GHZ by only changing the mult. to 9 anf fsb to 333 and everything else at defaults ---> 3 month lated the pc rebooted itself, I checked the CPU temps and they were in high 80s to mid 90s w/o load, I changed to 2.4GHz and cleaned my CPU Heatsink and the fan. CPU temps went down to 48c - 50c w/o load. Tried to OC to 3.0GHz by only changing the mult. to 9 and fsb to 333 just like before, but this time got only 2.41GHz ---> replaced the stock heatsink with the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro, CPU temps went down to 38c w/o load. Tried to OC to 3.0GHz but got "Overclocking Failed", tried the same with BIOS 0805, 0902, 1005 and latest 1006 but was not able to get past 2.41GHz ever since

So your CPU did reach 80-90 degrees. That's called boiling your CPU. If your system did that by itself, it's either virus or effects from hack.

Try rolling back to an earlier BIOS that did support the overclock.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking to do to. I'll try to go back to 0603 and see if that works.

Finally!!! I had to go back 6 BIOS versions before I could start overclocking. I went back to BIOS 0604 and was able to get to 3.0GHz. Core temps are 56c, 54c, 53c, 53c w/o load. Room temp is about 30c + crazy humidity. Thanks to all for your help. Many replys as oppose to other forums. Thanks again!
