Help to overclock QX9770

Hi could anybody give me some guide lines on how to overclock my QX9770. I am completly new to overclocking and would like to have your advice on what to do?

P.S. What could I name my system?

I would fiddle with the FSB multiplier first. Or if you really want you can choose CPU level up to "CRAZY"(3.5ghzish). Welcome to OCN

for the system name i like this off bottom live 3 ~ eedies bar, bump the NB to 1.45v and work from there but keep the vcore below 1.4v

First you're going to want to start with reading this. I realize this isn't "up to date", but the general principles still apply and the same concepts still hold.

As far as any voltages are concerned, you're going to want to leave them at stock until you run into stability problems. Follow the guide, try to gain maybe 200mhz, and then run the stability program of your choice. Once you run into stability issues, bump up the voltage one increment, and run the stability test again. Your overclock should at least complete an error free 8 hour pass before it may be considered stable. Most people tend to aim for 12 hours, or higher though...

Orthos seems to be the most popular nowadays. Others include Prime 95, TAT, and OCCT.
