Antec 900 radiator question - Page 2

Okay thanks for the suggestions guys. I am thinking about doing something very similar to SlicketyRickety, but I was going to see if i could just keep my exhaust fan there and make the holes in the case above that. Answering Dirtyduck's question I am going to be mounting my rad on the back very much like SlicketyRickety's rig.

Hey SlicketyRickety what are air diverters?? I just got everything I have ordered for this job and i'm about to cut the holes in the back. I currently have them marked right above the exhaust grill. Where did you get those rubber circle pieces that go in the circle, and are those the air diverters?

SlicketyRickety if you could can you post more pictures of your case from maybe a backside angle? +rep for the example. (just trying to do this right).

i just use a piece of cardboard and tape it to were i need the hot air not to blow just make sure you don't completely cover opening make sure it diverts air from Graphics card and PSU away from rad intake

I did a push/pull on my rad at the back of my 900 and it worked just fine. At first I thought I would be doing harm by blowing warm exhaust air from my case through the rad, but it made no difference because the air exchanges so quickly with this case.

I had it like this-
Exhaust-

And exhaust-

There was a fan, then the back case wall, then a space where the standoffs went, then the rad, then another fan pulling air through the rad.

Just thought i would share my solution to mounting a radiator in the Antec 900. Had to cut out a little section at the base of the case so the radiator would sit flush with the bottom and so i could use the top 3 bays for reservoir and dvd drive. Had a little bit of a problem with fitting the hard drives in but got there eventually - probably can only fit one more in at a push. Quite happy with it at the mo, and if i want to add another radiator i can quite easily top or back mount one. I do not recommend this if you like to fill your rig with DVD and HD's. CPU temp idles at about 30c and GFX at about 40c and under load 45c and 60c - a massive improvenment on my air cooling, not to mention a hell of a lot quieter.

That's exactly what I planned to do with my 900 but I couldn't think of anywhere to put the drives with all the front bays gone and I didn't want want the rad hanging out the back as I have limited depth to my desk / office (It's more of a broom cupboard).
So I swapped my case for a NZXT Tempest instead, Very similar looks, features, cost and quality to the Antec but with mount points for a 240 rad inside the case at the top.
Take a look a the link in my Sig, maybe this would be useful to you?

Mounting your rad on the back of the case should be fine mate.. When i first installed my radiator on my case i thought that the exhaust fan would interact with my rad but having a rad box helps with countering the warm air, So you have nothin to worry about.. Have ur fans Pushing also..Heres 2 ss's so u get a fair idea, enjoy
