Need to upgrade my sound card for gaming

Thread Starter
After doing a bit of research and reading some forum posts I'm still not too sure whats the best value for money upgrade for my sound card for gaming.

I currently have a Sound Blaster Live 24-Bit Internal and the Logitech X-530 5.1 Surround Speakers.

These are the options I am looking at that I can afford...

X-Fi XtremeAudio
X-Fi XtremeGamer
X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatality Pro

Would the Fatality pro be worth the extra cash?
And are my speakers good enough to take full advantage of the new sound card?

I don't see the XtremeMusic that everybody is talking about. I live in South Africa and I don't think they import it here.

Thanks

do NOT get X-Fi XtremeAudio.

I would go with the X-Fi XtremeGamer out of those. I think the XtremeGamer is the best bang for your buck, unless you can find the XtremeMusic.

Your speakers aren't that bad. You should be good.

On one of my local forums the guys are moaning about Vista support for the Creative X-Fi cards. Is this support better now?

If you're worried about Vista support, get an Asus Xonar DX sound card. It has the same, if not better capabilities than the XtremeGamer for the same price.

Thanks for the help.
I've ordered my XtremeGamer.
No stock at supplier so going to have to wait till Tuesday.
My SB Live 24-Bit bombed on me last night as well LOL. I didn't know plugging in a line in while the PC is on could blow your sound card?

Anyway no gaming this weekend. Maybe I'll get some work done hehe..

Don't get the Xonar DX, it has no onboard DSP!

Nice random post of a thread that is dead and a week old. Maybe you should read before you post? Melt16 had already said he purchased the XtremeGamer.

Wow!!! Thanks, you're a really big help! And yes I am being sarcastic.

Do you honestly have no better way to spend your time?
