as far as what other speakers to offer up I can't really help you much on that one at the moment as it has been a little while since I looked as I have 2 older pair of infinity speakers and a cerwin vega setup that I pieced together used that I'm using rightn now for my HT and/or computer speakers.
but u also gotta put into consideration his price range. speakers alone for a 5.1 is already exceeding 400 for decent ones where its just about the same quality as the z5500. the best piece ever made imo for computers is the discontinued Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1 which is modeled from HT speaker designs.
