Windows XP SP3 vs. Windows Vista SP1... What are your opinions about these 2 OS?

Thread Starter
Personally, I have tried both, and I gotta say that I ended up hating Windows Vista, so I formatted all my PC and installed SP2, so I could upgrade to XP SP3.
I gotta say that my games run a bit faster than before (even with my crappy GPU lol) So, how's been ur experience with these operating systems from microsoft?

Well i havent had the pleasure of trying out sp3, but i have had sp2, and vista seems about just as fast. the only hitch is ive had way more problems with vista. its nothing i cant handle, just a little troublesome. random lockups of programs, things not responding after a while, graphics driver problems, etc. although, id have to say, i havent had any BSODs on vista yet, knock on wood.

If you have 64bit then you need vista. That was the reason I switched from xp to Vista

I really like this comp because it has vista (I have a laptop running xp Sp3) The biggest thing that messes people up with vista is the RAM usage. Its bulky as hell. I recommend using over 3gigs of fast RAM to make it smooth. Running 4gigs of 1ghz RAM is a dream, I boot in under 25 seconds

I'm using Vista SP1 and don't seem to have an issue. It runs about the same/(sometimes)better than Windows XP. I streamed my service pack into a copy of Vista DVD rather than installing through the OS, so I'm not sure if anyone else has a different experience with Vista where the service pack is installed through the OS.
