WoW or AoC - Page 2

I'd say conan just becuase its new and WOW is so played out and kiddish. i mean it literally looks like a childs cartoon(alright tf2 does too but come on, its tf) and conan is obviously a newer engine and gonna have newer stuff in it. plus i hear is extremely violent, which is a major factor, to me anyway. i hear the server support and hackers where real problems in wow, conan should be pretty clear of hackers for a little while, hopefully.

No normally every server is under yellow or heavy load. I think it's safe to say there may well very be as many sub's as there is for WoW at this point. Funcom can't even seem to be able to keep copies on the store shelves. If they havn't met WoW's subs, they've easily topped SOE's EQ2.

Don't be a WoWfag. AoC is prettier, anyways. There's also going to be loads of new content over the next few months, so it won't be boring for a while.

Having played WoW in the past (both quitting and returning) and currently playing Age of Conan, I can say imho that AoC is quite a bit better than WoW. The destiny quests are very fun, and the time frame it is based around interests me more than WoW (Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome vs. Medieval). It also isn't that bad of a time-drain either. You can level up pretty quickly. The realism is also very awesome.

If I were you, I'd take a walk down the less traveled road and pick up AoC .

I'll probably get flamed to hell as most people are loving AoC and praising it's brilliance. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, in the early stages. Levels 1-20 are awesome, good voice acting, more involved quests, just an all around great experience (aside from the few bugs). After 20 you get out of noob land and go into the big wide world...that is also fun. I LOVED leveling in Conall's Valley, it's a beautiful place to explore and level in and the quests make you feel involved with the npc's struggles. After I hit 38 though the game has started to go down hill. I've canceled my subscription for now. Too many things I don't like about the game to keep me going.

List as follows:

1. Instancing-I hate hate hate instancing just to go into a new territory, and the fact that there are upwards of 10 instances for each area, it makes it a pain to actually meet friends

2. Travel-I just don't like the travel of the game, you have to talk to this npc to load to this zone then talk to another npc to load to this zone then run this far and load to another zone...too much loading for me (and it's not even slow on my pc, it just ruins the feel for me)

3. Dungeons-In 38 levels I encountered one actual dungeon that required a group, and that was Sanctum. It was one of the most boring dungeons I've ever done. There was hardly any creativity in the design...and after one run I had no urge to go back.

4. Missing Content-Now I know I'm not at level 80 so I can't really enjoy all the siege combat anyways, but it's not even in game. There is no pvp experience yet. All this stuff that was expected to be at launch just simply isn't there. This really bugged me, I feel lied to that stuff that is on the BOX is not in the game. I paid fifty dollars expecting those to be there at launch...not a month or two after.

Those are my major gripes with the game...It has a lot of potential but I just hate the travel system so much. I prefer something like WoW where there's no loading in between zones. If you think you can get past those four primary complaints of mine then I totally encouraged you to at least try out AoC. It was a great run while i played it...things just got worse as I got higher up level wise. The combat is fun, in my opinion. More involved than WoW and fatalities are beyond cool. I like the open pvp, being able to kill anyone (minding level of course) any time is fun. I'm back to WoW for now for a month to see if that feels good anymore. Pretty much just waiting for Darkfall and then the new bioware MMO...hopefully those deliver.

Hope this helped.

If you already have an account from when you used to play on WoW, just resubscribe the $15 a month, if you dont have fun cancel it, if you are having a good time just wait a while and when the AoC demo comes out try it.

AoC now, WoW when WotLK comes out. That is, if you have a character higher than 55 at WoW.

Playing a death knight will be nice because you get to start from 55. It's refreshing, and you don't have to go through the low level stuff for the 500th time.

Thanks for all the advice guys I'll take it all into consideration. For some reason I'm very very tempted to go buy AoC now hehe.

I honestly say go do it. It's a great game. This post has actually been constructive (somthing that is rare..). I definatly see and appreciate both points. WoW indeed will be fun again with the new giant expansion. I do believe that would be your time to resub. Right now I think the $50 is worth it for AoC. Yes like I said there are bugs - some large and bug the hell out of me. But I have faith (it's Funcom for cryin out loud) that it will be dealt with.

I would stick with WoW. Get yourself ready for WotLK. I'm waiting for the AoC free trials to come out before I drop 50 dollars on it or something..

WoW is obviously a GREAT GAME, because it does have 10 million odd players.. I just came back to it after about 6 months of a break, and I love it again. I'm getting another character up to 70 to start farming to get ready to be a total TOOLBAG and make a Death Knight (like everyone else.. lol)

I say wait for AoC free trials. I guarantee you won't miss much of anything, and you'll have a much better experience with more content and less bugs if you wait awhile.
