WoW or AoC - Page 3

MMORPG's go downhill after 5 years. WoW is going downhill. Do not dump time and effort into a game that is in it's downhill phase. Look at AoC or Warhammer game's that are on the up and up.

According To Amazon.com Wrath Of The Litch King the newest Expansion Pack is coming out November 30, 2008
post #23 of 50
They are just guessing. It's scheduled for H2 2008, and it just went into Friends & Family alpha... in a few weeks they'll start the closed beta, then it'll be another month or two, and then a few more weeks for them to actually get it out.

Sales numbers are saying otherwise...

WoW has way more servers than AoC, don't listen to that. Also Age of Conan is a bit confusing at times, and there is a lot of tedious dialogue that I dont even read anymore. I'm only level 14 on my Barbarian but a lot of the weapons and armor in early levels have the same stats or models. The combat system is revolutionary, but not in a good way. You basically sit there mashing the left, center, or right attack directions depending on which side his shields are the weakest. And then you throw in some combos to speed damage up. I always have trouble taking on two mobs my level, and if there's 3 I'm dead. Also many things are blatantly taken from WoW (talents, many keybinds, minimap icons) though I guess they figured it'd ease the transition for many ex-WoW players.

In my opinion- play WoW until AoC is more refined

and as someome stated earlier, there is a real lack of group dungeons in the game.

I agree...AoC could be great once it's more refined. I will have a hard time not trying it out again later down the road. The thing that will really kill it for me though is still all the instancing...I just can't stand all that, really kills the feel for me.

I'd say reactivate WoW for 15$ try it out...if you have fun awesome if not then dump the sub and go try AoC....AoC is great for the first 40 levels or so, sans the bugs.

I'm a seasoned WoW player and I can honestly say I don't think I could go back after playing AoC.

One question...have you left Tortage yet?

I played WoW for 4 years, EQ2 for 2 years, and FFXI off and on for 4-5 years. I have to say at this point AoC is my current favorite. It's got quite a few problems at the moment, so the suggestions to wait for a little polish are well warranted, but I don't regret for one second just going out and buying the game. I plan on playing WoW again when WotLK comes a little closer to release, but there's really no point at the moment.

The complaints about the lack of group dungeons is valid, at least for the first 40 levels or so. I haven't been past that, so I can't say. Instancing allows for some beautiful, less crowded zones, and most of the zones are large enough that you won't be instancing often. Conall Valley, for example, will last you from 20-30ish, and you never have to zone. The only time zoning is really an issue is when you are doing some major traveling. Then, it is as was said above. Talk to a guy, zone, run across a zone, talk to a guy, zone, etc.

WoW is obviously going to be more fleshed out than AoC at this point, but if you have already done what there is to do, then it is not really new. I think at this point, the potential of AoC is great, and I hope to the gods that it spends the next few months living up to that potential. These first few months will make or break the game.

That being said, as I said above, I have absolutely no regrets buying the game, bugs and all, and have enjoyed every minute I have spent in Hyboria. It's not a perfect experience, but, for me, it has been a very good one.

Lol, I've left Tortage TWICE, thankyou very much! AoC is a great game, and every MMO has big problems to start off with. This game will need a good few months, just like the rest. But even right now a few weeks after release it's still a very fun and challenging game.

Not a chance. WoW has more than 50 servers on the US client alone.

Childish? Gaming full stop is childish then. The graphics may not be technically beautiful but trust me there are times when you will be in awe of the scenery. Assuming you have even played the game you know the feeling of flying into Nagrand for the first time.

Age of Conan barely sold 1 million in their first week. World of Warcraft has 10 million paying subscribers. I'm betting some of those AoC players won't renew.

Playing a death knight will be nice because you get to start from 55. It's refreshing, and you don't have to go through the low level stuff for the 500th time.
I agree. At the moment if you have been through all the content in the Burning Crusade there isn't much left to do. If you haven't then hurry up and see it all . Otherwise wait for WotLK.

In my opinion at the moment WoW is the better MMO but that may change as AoC matures a little.
