Well guys here it is:
  • Motherboard:GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L ($89.99)
  • Case:COOLER MASTER RC-690 ($149.99)
  • PSU: Real Power Pro 550W Power Supply (included w/ case)
  • Hard Drive: SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series 500GB ($89.99)
  • Memory: Already got 2GB of PNY
  • Video Card: Already got EVGA 8800GTS 640MB
  • DVD Reader:ASUS Black SATA DVD-ROM Drive ($19.99)
  • Burner: ASUS DVD±R DVD with LightScribe Black SATA ($39.99)
  • OS: Vista SP1 32 Bit ($99.99)

Total cost: roughly 485+ shipping

Will the 550w psu be enough. Im trying to figure out what to do here I really want an antec 900 and a modular psu but If I get both of those i'll be over my budget and unable to afford a processor. But if I go ahead and get a decent psu and case, I probably won't have to buy another for a long time but then i will be stuck with my pd 940...

Any comments are welcome, thanks guys!

what's your budget? I don't know how good coolermaster's PSUs are, but I'd recommend getting the case w/o the PSU, then getting a good PSU.
Monster.

I would like to stay under 700 bucks and If I add the E8400 that will put me around 675 not including the shipping. Hmmm

Newegg reviews for that psu arent bad but I take those with a grain of salt. Looks like 550 will be plenty of juice though.

Don't get a case you don't love....you'll hate it in less then a month. Follow my reasoning here.

You want an Antec 900 and a modular PSU, right? If you get the CM RC-690...then you get neither the case nor the PSU you want.

At least get one that you want...and the case is easiest.

According to the Egg...the Antec is $129 and has a $40 rebate to boot...

If you hold off on the Modular and pick your self a more basic SLI capable PSU or something for around $50...such as

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817189005
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371007
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817152028

You can get the case you want and have an OK PSU - and still be able to afford the CPU you want. It comes out to only about $25 more that way...not even counting the rebate.

The Case and psu combo you are looking at is sufficient but will not allow for any headroom with an upgrade. Vista 64 is much better than the 32 bit OS, it is just not compatible with 16 bit programs and installers. But drivers are plentiful. Also, it will make use of all your RAM later on if you upgrade to say 4 or 8 gb.
