Xx573v3xX has a problem :(

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter
well I keep downgrading my stuff, I see the need if there were some GREAT games out there that needed all that power but no, And besides I don't even Game anymore i just come on here and email, ever since i started working on my camaro I have no time..

And secondly I won 6010 in the lotto last week and still have no need to buy computer uber stuff.

What i'm asking right now, In 2 months time when Good more GAMES come out, What should I buy i have 1500 saved for a gaming rig, maybe more.

I don't play a game unless it has NO lag and must look good, VERY high settings only for me.

So what should i get in 2 months time?
I don't care i'm not a fan boy. least not anymore, Im not a techy geek neither, I'm more into cars so I just want to play games...

Intel Q3 price cuts, brand new GPUs and the P45 chipset(first 65nm one) will all be on the table in a couple months...

Intel E8500 -> ~$183(will drop to $183 after price cuts -Click here-)
ATI HD 4870 -> ~$329 (the new P45 chipset supports PCI-E 2.0 x8 x8; so Xfire is an upgrade option)
Asus P5Q dlx mobo -> ~$210(Just found one, P45 prices may drop as availability picks up)
2x2gb of DDR2(or 3) -> ~$85(1000mhz) - $300
Corsair 550VX PSU -> ~$80
WD 640GB SATA HDD -> $110(Or buy 2 + raid, some P45s will actually have hw based raid)
Case up to you -> Expect to pay $80-$200 for a good one
Vista Ultimate 64bit OS -> $180(Or less if you're a student / already have it)

Total with no OS, 1x HDD, cheaper case and DDR2 = ~$1077

Total with OS + 2x HDDs + DDR3 + OS + expensive case = ~$1702

For gaming you only need a dual core, and the more Mhz the better so an e8500 is prime choice. 4ghz on air should be a cake walk and I believe a new stepping may be in the works too. The new ATI card is shaping up to be a budget oriented monster 800SP and GDDR5 for ~$329. Man I wish I won 6K... I'd build a real monster computer and fix up my old 95 camaro (MAF is causing her to sputter and some jagon keyed her ).

Actually yeah it is a new stepping, E0.
