e6600 OC Problems

Thread Starter
I recently decided to OC my e6600 with stock cooling. Found that 2.92ghz was its limit so I decided to buy a zalman cnps9500 AT in hopes that I might be able to get it a little higher. Oddly enough after my first boot with the new fan I load up a program and my comp crashes, and on reboot it tells me to reset my cpu to default speeds. So i do and now I cant oc my e6600 at all, even the slightest oc and it gives me the restore default speeds on startup. Could I have damaged some hardware or did something else wrong? The temps with the new zalman are a little better than my stock cooler.

I also noticed when i restart my comp hangs way longer than usual before it loads up again. the message is, please reset the cpu and memory frequency in the cmos.

Try reseting your CMOS then try to OC.
