CPU Failure ?

I am having a problem with my CPU at the moment. Let me explain the situation.

A few days ago my friend came over and I decided to show hum my lapping job. So I pulled out my AMD 3600+ and showed him then I put it back into my PC and went to go start it up and I got a black screen with no response from my mouse or my keyboard. I tried restarting my PC many times without any sucess. So I took it out again to make sure I hadn't bent any pins or gotten anything on the pins that may have shorted the CPU, nothing. So I tried a varied assortment of methods that might cause my PC to boot. The only thing that worked was putting my friend's CPU in instead of mine.

I think the CPU might be fried s I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

P.S. I need to fix this or I will be out of a computer for the next six weeks.

Try you're CPU in a friend's Mobo. If it doesn't work, you found the problem. The fact that it boots with a different CPU leads me to believe you already found the problem.

I already know that my CPU is the problem, the question I have is there anything that can be done ? I can't really afford another CPU at the moment, I'm seeing if there is anything that can be done.
