The EP35-DS3L is the succesor of the DS3... however, I've heard quite a few problems with this board. The P35-DS3L is definitely better.

And I would FOR SURE get a better hard drive... I'd get either a Western Digital or Seagate with at least 16MB RAM and 250GB disk space... shouldn't be that much more

So do I get the one from Amazon?

If yes should I get the combo thing from Amazon with the Q6600 to replace the E8400?

And I currently don't need that much hard drive space as I am surviving with 38.1 gigs right now.

You'll be amazed how fast it fills up with a new PC....Add 5-10 games, 200 service packs and updates, a couple of OC tools....next thing you know your at 150GB and kicking yourself.

GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Dynamic Energy Saver Ultra Durable II Intel Motherboard - Retail

get a better hdd, i like western digital, and you will want about 250GB

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 Yorkfield 2.5GHz LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80580Q9300 - Retail

Patriot Viper 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model PVS24G8500ELKR2 - Retail
or
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ - Retail

if you can afford them, the mobo is a lot better. you get raid contoller, faster bus speed, faster standard memory speed for only a little more

in order of importance in my opinion
1. mobo
2. proc - if you will still have it in two years
3. ram

the hdd it probably what you will notice more, but it is best to upgrade that when necessary, oppose to getting not as good of hardware.
