Memory voltage question

Hi all,

Don't mean to be a noob, but when i was trying to pick out memory today i realized that my motherboard of choice, a Ga-ep35-ds3r, supports memory at 1.8V (or so their website says).

Do i have to get memory that runs at 1.8 volts? I was looking at a 4Gb kit of patriot vipers at 1066, but they run at 2.3 volts. Will it be possible to run those on the DS3R? I'm learning how to overclock, but RAM still confuses me so im not sure If i can force it to run.

Thanks

No problem you can run your memory at 2,3 on that board, this is from the manual

"DDR2 OverVoltage Control

Allows you to set memory voltage.

Normal : Supplies the memory voltage as required. (Default)

+0.1V ~ +0.7V : Increases memory voltage by 0.1V to 0.7V at 0.1V increment.

Note: Increasing memory voltage may result in damage to the memory."

This mean that you can run memory between 1,80 and 2,50, but don´t run above 2,30, it can kill your ram pretty fast.

1,80 volt is the standard for DDR2 and I suppose that´s what they mean at their website.

Here you can download the manual.

Thanks! I thought it might be something like that but i wasn't sure, and I didn't want to risk buying RAM i couldn't use
