Transferring data from one comp to another

Sorry if this has already been asked a while back, or if this is the wrong forum. Storage looked like the right category for me.

Anyways to get to the point, I'm picking up my new desktop tomorrow
My problem is that I need to transfer data to my new computer from this laptop.
My WoW folder is currently 10 gb's! It takes hours to install WoW, with all the patches, then on top of that you have to install BC...it just takes FOREVER.
Is there a cheap efficient way to transfer data? My external hard drive died
Any suggestions? A cable I can get or something?

If you still need to transfer the data... then can you just use a home network (assuming you have a home router/switch) and enable sharing to the folders where the data resides to accomplish this?

Depending on how fast your switches/NIC cards trasmit, you can move data pretty fast amongst networked computers.
