Hell, Crossfired HD4870 should beat the GTX280 for cheaper once its price goes down anyway!

No doubt prices will be cheaper in the US.
I do recall the EVGA 8800 Ultra Black Pearl going for ~£487 on scan.co.uk, but £456 for a reference design? I'm awaiting something truly magnificent once the NDA has passed.

Guys, this isn't that amazing. On release the 9800GX2 was $1000 AUD. On release the 7800GTX 512 was $800 as was the X1900XTX. All top end cards debut at ridiculous prices till they get a die shrink and stabilize.

ATi interestingly seems to be going away from this notion and instead of running the "best performance possible" model, is running the "best performance possible for a price" one.
9800GX2/~$550
GTX280/~$900

Just wow
I see what Nvidia is doing, they want to move all the GX2 stock before they drop the prices.

This had better be the second coming of the 8800GTX/Ultra.

We already know which one will win in that fight.

Well, the price isn't scary at all, considering that it's from some no-name site (at least one I have never heard of) and that the card hasn't been released yet. I expect between $650-$750 for the GTX 280 at Newegg upon arrival. Well, good thing there is the eVGA Step-Up program, right fellas? I plan on turning my 9600GT in for a GTX 280 and paying the difference.

Are you prepared to spend ~$500 for a step up?

For this price you could CrossFire 3 x HD4870 and it would probably smoke it.
Or a 4870X2 + 4870... Or two 4870s and a 4850. Oh how I love CrossFire.
