"Black Screen" on startup in Vista 62 (solution)

Thread Starter
Apperantly my Graphics card (8800GTS) was sending out an S-video signal to my TV as the primary screen. What i needed to do was connect a TV then go into the menu and make the No:2 screen (aka my monitor) the primary screen.

I don't expect everyone to be helped by this but some might be.

The same thing happens to me. I was never sure that it was mty 8800gt but i guess now I am.

sometimes it will boot up to a black screen and the resolution will be all messed up. The only way to fix it is to plug in my old moniter into the 8800gt and then plug in my normal moniter.

I guess the old moniter resets something in the card that allowes it to reajust to my normal moniter.

If I switched me normal moniter to the other DVI port (the one that wasnt pluged in on startup) then it would show a really small resolution. The ont on start up would show nothing.

Bottom line my solution to you would be get an old moniter and plug it in see if it fixes it. Unplug everything else. Dont reformat your computer cus that wont do anything.
