[CJ]4870X2 scores ~X5500 in Vantage - Page 3

Rumor!!!!

I'm hoping ATI's card performs great cause I'm wanting to purchase one. If Nvidias is better I'm gonna just go with it because I'm not gonna dish out money for something thats already outdated by something else.

Why do you say Vantage doesn't indiciate real life performance and then bring up 3d06? The 9800GX2 quite comfortably bests the 3870X2 in Vantage, and I don't think you'll argue that given the real life performance, that is a pretty accurate result. Vantage also manages to sucessfully predict the performance of an even closer pair of cards, the 3870 and 9600GT. The GPU score without AA/AF puts the 3870 between the 9600GT and the 8800GT. Performance wise, this is exactly where it ends up in real life as well until you start cranking the AF up. In general, Vantage seems to do a pretty good job predicting where a card will end up performance wise, especially compared to 3d06. I see no reason other than Nvidia fanboyism as to why this score should be thrown out because ATI always scored better in 3d06. With Vantage, this is simply no longer the case.

I wonder what company leaks this info to him And vantage is closer to real-life performance than 06 so don't bring it up. Provided if this is true it is nice to see the performance crown back to ATI. This matches the 26xx from a single 4870 if you take improved drivers in the equation.

Lots of crazy people posting in this thread...

Oh and they mention drivers because Nvidia is now releasing drivers SPECIFICALLY for Vantange. Kinda defeats the purpose...

What's with the "X" in front of the scores? (I haven't run Vantage as I don't have Vista installed yet.)

Its the preset I think. Xtreme preset runs 1920-1200 with 4xAA/16XAF.

the extreme preset on 3dmark vantage has full AA/AF turned on.....
