Please help me to overclock my PC....

Thread Starter
Hi everyone,

I am very new to overclocking. I built a new system with,

Intel Q9450
Asus P5E3 Deluxe
2x2GB OCZ DDR3 1333 MHz reaper HPC
XFX 9800 GX2 Black edition
Zerotherm Nirvana 120 cooler

I would like to overclock my system from 2.66 Ghz to 3.2 Ghz. Anybody tell me what settings should i use in my BIOS.

step by step procedure would be very helpfull,

Thanx

OK there is no settings you can go to because each chip is different.

I'll tell you some basics that I know.

Lock your PCI/AGP/PCIe frequency and start increasing your external clock by about 10MHz. Save the settings and boot into windows. Run programs like:
Download a program called CPU-Z. There are other programs you should download to stress your system. If your system fails you have to increase your voltages by one notch. *NOTE* When you increase voltages it increases heat. If your system is still unstable you may have to give a notch to your northbridge.

There's a whole guide.

Go into the downloads section of this site and there is a bundle of programs from mega_option that you will NEED to get it comes with everything you need to OC. Also to overclock basically all you do is increase front side bus speed until you get instability ie. blue screens of death, lockups etc. when this happens raise you vcore until its stable again and keep doing this until you can no longer raise the vcore higher or under load your chip gets too hot this is your chips FSB wall.

Once you find a speed you think is stable meaning u can get into windows and all that you will run a stressing program like prime95 or Orthos for hpurs and they will load up the CPU to see if it crashes under load. Also keep an eye on your RAM speed because you may need to unlink it or use a different divider because your RAM can also cause instability if ran too far out of spec speeds.

Also go into User CP at the top and on left side click add system and fill in your specs so we can help you better...

Maybe start with reading some guides on the internet and this thread. It contains my findings with this processor. But as BlankThis already explained, it's (very) different for every board/processor and it even differs for every piece of hardware (one Q9450 isn't necesarry the other)
