TBH I think that game developers should try to create a very good singleplayer game, or a very good multiplayer one. Often trying to incorporate both into one game, which may seem like a good idea, results in a either a poor single player, poor multiplayer or, and this seems to be happening more and more, both.

There are of course exceptions to this, such as COD4 for instance, which has a great singleplayer (the story wasn't exceptional, but it was a ton of fun) and has a great multiplayer. However, most game developers should stick to one or the other.

I didn't enjoy CoD4's singleplayer too much; Crysis' was much better. CoD4 was too limiting, most of the time.

By the way, a game that blended good singleplay + good multiplay was FEAR.

Cliche Crysis Comment

I still have not heard any reasonable proof or explanation of what this bad coding is exactly. For me, it is one of the most graphically advanced games I've seen, and the framerate stability is nothing short of amazing compared to other games. With my system it stays pegged at 30fps no matter what, except in two or three small spots in the game. I've played other games with hundreds of lag spots.

It performed exactly as they promised it would, IMO even down to the quadcore optimization. The framerate stayed the same with a quad but for me the game ran much more smoothly when I had a q6600. I don't really give a crap what the graphs say, I've played it on the same exact system with a fresh windows install and can easily notice the difference in smoothness between a quad and dual. Hell, on my old system switching to the quad allowed me to finally play on very high with tolerable fps.

That said, the storytelling definitely could use some help, and it will be interesting to see what graphical improvements they do/don't make.
