Whats wrong with shrinking great architecture and reselling it?

Its the same thing the industry has done for the last 4 years. And all of a sudden this time around nvidia takes a bunch of flak for it. I'm not sure why.

I really think this will be ATI's turn. I really would have thought that nvidia would have learned something from the 8800GT/GTS sales, but I suppose it is tough to cut prices on something that was in the works when those G92 card were a hit. I don't care about which company has the best card, what is really important is who rules the $250-$300 price range. I have to believe that is where most of the sales will be.

Because Nvidia didn't shrink the dies with the new releases, they merely made the equivalent of CPU stepping revisions to their cores and called it something completely different.

I'm not sure about that I know I for one will be switching over to the new ATI card but there are a lot of nvidia fans who will pay for the new flagship card.

I REFUSE TO BELIEVE IT. If the GPU puts out 240w heat, the GPU ALONE has to consume more than 240, otherwise it's creating heat out of thin air.

That's why I said it was questionable. But, hey if it's true then even if the GTX280 isn't the top performer, it will have solved the energy crisis

It isn't PHYSICALLY possible for something to put off more heat in watts than it takes in. It just doesn't work that way.

Yes

expect it around 750 $ in the states.

BTW another big Store (alternate.de) put up a banner on it.
Date is also the 16th of June by 15:00 CET (UTC+2).
Could be the time NV's NDA ends and we'll see first real articles and benches...
