LOL @ max 1.45v

1.4 is enough to start the degradation process on a 45nm...maybe even kill it

Ok! I know that is stupid but how can get stable 4,5 Ghz on wolfie? Any ideas? freaky overclockers?

Not every chip can reach 4.5 GHz.. That's pushing it.. a lot = crippled CPU.
4.2 GHz is a more reasonable. But most people are happy with 4.0 GHz.

I don't know if your chip can overclock that well anymore.

Some really interesting stuff here, especially in that xtremesystems thread. Really hoping
I can get my E8400 to 4.0ghz without bumping vcore by much..

I dont know about you folks, but i consider a max stable OC as something I find that is well within the limits of intel spec..

Ive seen this a few times now on these chips.....

Alot of ppl swear by them as monster OC'r, but lately I see alot of 3.6-3.8, or I see threads like this..

Suicide runs, even for benching are just that, suicide...

I feel bad for the OP, i know how much it sucks to f up hardware, but its still running so our OK.

intel specs are there for a reason....

3,6 Ghz is enough for me too. I use my PC for Dynagen/dynamips Cisco devices emulation. This soft is realy power hungry. The same is with Lockon Flamming Cliffs. The CPU power in both isues is crucial. Even 0,5 Ghz is good stuff. I can feel that in those cases.

Too much criticism of the OP, what he did was test the 45nm to it's fullest extent, trying to get every bit of performace he could from it. His experience is a lesson for us all. Thanks for pushing it to it's limits. It's easy to say, Intel says don't go above this limit, but until someone tries it, how do you really know. Keep pushing the limits!

Sure, get yourself another wolfie and see if it can get to 4GHz+ using less than 1.3625V. It sucks, I know. I had a similar experiance, although I never juiced it 1.5V, ever.

Good luck with your cpu.. I'd do what I did: Sell it and get another or a used Q6600 with a guaranteed good OC.

LOL

He is asking how and if his chip is still OK.... I dont think he was pushing it to its limit expecting it to break....

Im all for the testers I like seeing the limits of the chips... Yet I still havent seen an OC someone is running with .5v more than intel spec or 5c higher temps that doesnt fry the chip in a short period of time...

These tests have been done, over and over again to the point where the testers are just not using good judgement anymore...

45nm - 1.36 max 24/7 - 1.4 max for suicide bench runs
65nm - 1.50 max 24/7 - 1.55 max for benching
