What is the Best Over-clocking Processor in the Allendale (65nm) Series?

E1200 @ 1.6 GHz (Celeron Duel)
E1400 @ 2.0 GHz (Celeron Duel)
E2140 @ 1.6 GHz (Pentium Duel)
E2160 @ 1.8 GHz
E2200 @ 2.2 GHz
E4300 @ 1.8GHz (Core 2 Duo)
E4400 @ 2.0GHz
E4500 @ 2.2GHz
E4600 @ 2.4GHz
E4700 @ 2.6GHz
E6300 @ 1.866GHz
E6400 @ 2.133GHz

I want to achieve the same Performance as an E6850 @ Stock Speed

------------------------

Best Over-clocking BUDGET Processor in the Conroe (65nm) Series?

E6300 @ 1.866GHz
E6400 @ 2.133GHz
E6600 @ 2.4GHz

I want to achieve the same performance as an E8500 @ Stock Speed

-----------------------

Now for the biggy the best Yorkfield (45nm) Over Clocker

Q9300 @ 2.5
Q9450 @ 2.667

I’m going to buy one from each of the series start with the Allendale Series then the Conroe and finally the Yorkfield but I might skip the Conroe series and go straight for the Yorkfield

The E6 series is pricey sod that i'm going for a E4 series with 2 mb l2 cache

Depends what you mean by "Bottleneck". Will a QX9770 give you more fps? Yes. Will the E2160 make all your games unplayable? Not by a long shot.

I'd suggest getting an E2180 if you are only gaming as they overclock to 3.5Ghz+.

I'd stay away from the 45nm quads if OC'ing is your goal. First of all, they're a pain in the ass to overclock real high (read http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...nightmare.html if you want to know the details) and secondly, OC'ing these 45nm quads seems to be a dangerous sport (read http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...on-issues.html to understand the why).

So, go with the E4 series ... not too bad overclockers at all and you'll save some money to spend on a better GPU (if gaming is one of the goals). I can assure you that would be making a lot more difference in terms of frames ...

I have an E2180 they are great i love the budget cpu. I'm getting a Q6600 soon that should be awesome.

Will the E1200 @ 3.0gig play Gears of War maxed out
post #9 of 12
I would say an E2140 or E6600. I had an E2140 at 3.5 stable. they are hit or miss, though. There is no guarantee with OCing and some of the E2xx's are poor overclockers while others are phenominal.

For Conroe the E6420 will OC to 3.2Ghz with decent cooling. I know it was not on your list, but thought I would mention it. I have mine clocked to 3Ghz with a AC Freezer Pro 7 and it runs great. Haven't got around to upping it more yet, but I plan to.
