That's exactly what I noticed too. Looks like Nordic Hardware's "Eastern" sources are full of crap. Anyways still nice to see it competing well with only 480.

so 4850 = 480sp
so 4870 = 800sp

thats what i'm getting at?

ATI said they will bridge a bigger gap between their 2 products.

If it is like that then 4870 would be performing 2 times faster. What will be the point on getting the 4850 then?

They share the same core... The bigger gap they speak of comes from the disparity in clocks.

core:

HD 4850 = 625mhz
HD 4870 = 850mhz (+36%)

memory:

HD 4850 = 1143mhz
HD 4870 = 1935mhz (+69%)

TDP:

HD 4850 = 114W
HD 4870 = 157W (+38%)

-EDIT-

I've also read rumors that the HD4870 can easily be OC'd to 1000+mhz on the core!

Well being that it's a good deal faster than the 9800GTX, a $300 card, and will likely retail for about $100 under that, I'd say the point is to kill any competition from the 9-series. If this score is true, then it will have no problem doing that. This should be an incredible card for ~$160-180.

That being said, I don't think the information in the GPU-z screenshot is accurate, it's going to need way more bandwidth than 48GB/s...

Edit: I'm going to go ahead and call that GPU-Z screenshot fake.
The pixel fillrate is a 4703.7% increase over the 3850
Texture fillrate is a 9407.5% increase over the 3850
And this is accompanied by a 10.6% drop in memory bandwidth.
So I wouldn't really use this screenshot to "confirm" that it only has 480 shaders, the GPU-Z database could just be inaccurate for these cards right now. The benchmark may still be accurate if it's just the GPU-Z database that's wrong.

From Hardspell's source:

Crysis benched @ 800x600 rez all high settings NO AA (Original source LINK)

e8500 @ 4.0ghz(500FSB x8)

Attachment 75287

Min FPS : 34.63 Max FPS : 83.15

AVG FPS : 56.85

-EDIT-

My SS sucked, so if you want a better image of the bench check out the source link...

Oh and WTH? 800x600!

I thought games became very "CPU bound" @ low resolutions... I guess I'll finally install Crysis bench(it came free w/ my GPU but I never played it ><) and see what I can do @ that resolution with varying CPU and GPU frequencies.

-EDIT- My quick DX9 run (just ran it now, no tweaking ect)

3.33ghz C2Q stock 8800gts XP sp2

Attachment 75288

Min FPS : 19
Max FPS: 94
AVG FPS: 71.5

I'll test @ higher CPU frequencies (temps permitting)... Would be interesting to see someone with 64bit vista and a wolfdale capable of 500 x8 test their GPUs @ stock(G92, G80, RV600 ect).

-EDIT- a few more runs @ 3.33ghz but 8800GTS @ 749/1871/1052 and 840/2098/1098

Attachment 75289Attachment 75290

Boosting GPU clock improved Min FPS greatly... (Or perhaps 19 was a fluke?)

Wow what a fail. 800x600? No very high? No AA?
/methinks they don't have the card

wouldn't this go in the hardware section more than the video game.....
