possible way to take my rig on a flight? (Air Canada)

Thread Starter
This coming up summer im going to be doing some traveling, Toronto Pearson Airport to Winnipeg, and staying there for a good time. Now, Im just trying to think of a way to bring my rig aboard. I would have it mailed, but cash is tight with the flight and the up-coming bills.

Has anyone ever tried to bring there rig on a airplane, and do they allow it? The airline is "Air Canada", now im not sure what their rules are regarding wight and size, I know for sure i wouldn't be able to bring it on as a carry on. And taking it into cargo is just suicide for my PC... So, i would have to take the main parts out such as the video cards, CPU cooler, etc... anything heavy in hardware in general. I still have all the packaging for the hardware... My question is, is there any other way to bring my rig with me? Rather it be it not in its case or not... Im sure i could carry some of the hardware in my baggage, like smaller stuff.

Have called the Airline? Most airlines have bag and weight restrictions. If you go over the limit you may not be allowed to bring the extra luggage or pay an extra fee of at least $50. I would recommend recommend sending it via a delivery service UPS or such and If you have a large heatsink remove it and pack it seperately. I would backup the data on the hdds and if there is critical data I would remove them and carry they in a protective case with you on the plane.
