mobo noob here. Please Help

Thread Starter
im looking at this mobo here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...IN#detailspecs

I was really about the spec on the memory, then i read this:

4GB - 32bit
32GB - 64bit

Why is that this mobo can handle 32GB-64bit (assuming it means 4x 4GB) and only 4GB-32Bit (assuming it mean 4x 1GB).? What about the 2GB memory?

its nothing to do with the motherboard its to do with the operating system.... 32bit os can only use 4GB of ram no matter what board its installed on

bad math bad, but since it only has 4slots, whats the point in advertising it can handle 32GB, is 8GB memory out there? Also, the the amount of GB of memory you can use, depends on the bit of OS, and im assuming the mobo i posted in the top can handle 64bit, correct

yea pretty much all mobo's coming out now can support a 64-bit OS. But you may wanna just consider that the fact that it even says that it supports up to 32gb of RAM on 64-bit as evidence that it supports it....

in there future there will be 8g sticks.

32bits you will get around 3.2-3.5 showing.
64 bit up to 32g if they ever make 8g stick
