[Vr-Zone] HD 4800 Series benchmark charts. - Page 4

You schould read it like: 4870's fps in Crysis / 9800GTX's fps in Crysis = 1.4 / 1, which equals to 4870's fps in Crysis = 1.4 x 9800GTX's fps in Crysis and so on. They don't have to be fake. They could have made it this way just to save time with all detailed graphs.. Anyway if that they happen to be real than Nvidia has nothing to laugh about as they will get pwnd just a week after they lunch their next gen cards with ATI's prices and performance.

It wouldn't be the first time a company has done that that is why I mean it doesn't mean anything. It is just my personal opinion of course, but without any real numbers i won't beleive a thing.
little desperate arguement?

Very true, but they are still not as bad as Nvidia's slides

Looking pretty nice either way.

Now I'm going to have to enter a fantasy world for a while where there are no such thing as new cards coming out, otherwise I will end up buying the 4870X2...

It's not about interpreting graphs correctly, per se... More to the point, anyone can slap a graph together(accuracy TBD), that still doesn't guarantee much of anything.

He's an ATI owner why would he have a "desperate argument"? You never questioned the source (both AMD/Nvidia)? Straight from the horse's mouth...

AA was never G92s strong point, perhaps at 19x12 with no AA the numbers would have been closer... And why only 8x AF? Well, AF was a huge choking point for RV670, perhaps kicking it up a notch to 16x would also adversely impact their pretty graphs?

As with both GT200 and RV770 it's best to wait until it's out in the wild and in the hands of enthusiasts before interpreting true performance. ATM I don't believe/trust either company to provide objective and relatively accurate numbers or graphs which interpret the numbers for us simple folk.

How about who cares?

This same argument happens every time a new card comes out and only serves to increase the hits on the blogs and pseudo-news sites that post these "benchmarks"

I guess it's so after one side or the other of the argument is proven right, that person can come back and claim supreme coolness.

Honestly...it's somewhat silly.

When the cards are out and reviewed by all of the major reviewers and people start to use them and have some real world testimonials about the performance, then both sides might have some data to back up what we're talking about.

Until then...well, I guess this is a form of amusement for us, but little else.

^ agreed. we can all dispute the numbers as much as we want, but until the cards from both nvidia and ati come out we don't know jack squat imo. best just to wait and see....

ALSO *Looks in the upper right hand corner.*

Yea they look just like the ones nVidia released the other day. It's almost as if someone took the same PR slides and changed the name and colors and voila!! Anyways I hope these cards will do well but for now it's just pure speculation until real benches come out.

Just had to say along with everyone else, man do people fail at understanding graphs. Go back to school if you can't figure them out, its really simple.

I know its annoying they dont show the fps values since we could then understand if the card is giving playable levels of performance, but its actually better to display this way.

It stops any negative pr from people complaining that the new gen cards still dont give playable results. The advantage is that it shows (without any downside of low fps) that this new generation of card is X% faster than the nvidia card compared to. This is better. To show that the new card performs better at a cheeper price point is what is needed.

Also those who said someone could of made those graphs up and they should of posted fps values instead. What makes you think they couldnt make up the fps values as well

Just to hit back at both ATI and nvidia, both companies in the past when comparing their new products to competing products have been known to use old drivers on the competitors. On the recent nvidia graphs they even state what version of drives for the ati card are used (they were old ones).

the point of speculation is to look at the results given and analyze it. theres nothing wrong with questioning the results, its another to completely dismiss the data given as fake.
