[dvHW] GTX260 price drops to $399? - Page 3

Links, my supplier here in Toronto (ASI) has the GTX280 listed for $693 CAD (the asus model). They are a distributor so add 5% to that for street price. They did indicate the price would drop about 10% (to about $640) after the first couple of weeks so street would be $670 or so.

from what i was getting at from the other topic....:
HD 4850 = 1.4 x 9800GT/8800GT
HD 4870 = 1.4 x 9800GTX so that would also be 8800GTS and 8800GTX.

but what i don't get is how much faster is a 9800GTX to a 8800GT?

Well Nvidia is just throwing cash out the window now. They can't be making a profit.

Dropping prices before it is even released. I find this as evidence the GTX200 may be a huge flop.

Sweet! Hopefully ATI will do the same for the HD 4800 cards. Everybody wins! Great cards at lower prices.

Not by much.. most people say the difference between an 8800gt and a 8800gts is negligble in game.. and same with the 8800gtx(except in higher reso where the 768 shines)..

so a stock 9800gtx vs a 8800gt is not very big of a diffrences.. aside from the OC capabilites... it all comes down to the cost vs performance ratio... and also factor in what card you already have too....

Well, this is good news for me seeing how i dumped a ton of money into liquid cooling my recently bought 780i board. ATI is out of the question at this point in time. Two 260 cards are looking pretty good to me. Once the game benches are out i will know for sure.
