Yet Another Q6600 Overclocking Question

Thread Starter
Lately I've been trying to get my Q6600(G0) to overclock to 3.4Ghz with a Tuniq Tower for cooling and I haven't been able to do it. So I decided that I would have to settle for 3.2Ghz even though I wouldn't be happy with it. Well I tried running OCCT at 3.2Ghz and I get a Code1 crash within 5-10 minutes of running the program.

I think my cpu has a vid of 1.275 if I'm not mistaken and I'm running it at a 1.325Vcore. I have the FSB set to 400 with an 8x multiplier. My temps are 61/60/55/55 and my ambient temp is about 23C. Anytime I run Prime95 or OCCT the core that is the coldest is always the first one to return an error (usually core 3). I'm running stock voltages on everything else on the motherboard and my ram is set to a 1:1 ratio with my fsb.

From what I've read on the forums, I should be able to get to 3.2Ghz with a TT without any problems at all. I'm really starting to think that I have a dud for a cpu :/

Try these options, its what I use. (originally posted by ericeod)

To get 3.4GHz-3.6GHz with your Q6600 assuming the CPU can handle 3.6GHz at 1.5v or less (this OC is very doable with these settings). These arent difinitive, it is all based on the CPU, but these settings are solid for the board itself and should get you started.

Advanced BIOS Features
CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) Disable
CPU Thermal Monitor 2(TM2) Disable
CPU EIST Function (Note) Disable

MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.)
CPU Host Clock Control Enabled
x CPU Host Frequency (Mhz) 400
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) 100
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) 800 (with your FSB at 400, it will 1:1)

System Voltage Control
DDR2 OverVoltage Control: +.03v (default is 1.8v)
PCI-E OverVoltage Control [Normal]
FSB OverVoltage Control +0.2v
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control +0.2v (This is your northbridge voltage, might need +0.3 when running over 400 FSB with quad)
CPU Voltage Control 1.40v - 1.5v (it might need less then 1.40v, or it might need a bit more... only testing will tell)

Depending on what bios you have, you might have to press [CTRL+F1] in the main bios menu to access advanced memory timing options.

Edit: you should deffinately be able to get 3.2, probably get 3.4. Try setting your Memory multi to 2, to start with.
