OCZ Vendetta 2/Xigmatek Measurements

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I'm probably going to be buying an OCZ Vendetta 2 (or Xigmatek HDT-S1283, both heat sink fans seem to be 159 mm tall) since it seems to be a great deal in terms of price versus performance. I know that this HSF does fit on my mobo because I've seen people using the OCZ Vendetta 2 on their Gigabyte P35-DS3L. The only thing I'm worried about is possibly the size of my computer tower. I measured the space between my motherboard to the side of my case to be 165mm. Can someone who owns either heat sink tell me the height of their HSF as measured from the motherboard?

As a safety precaution, can someone also tell me the height of their Tuniq Tower 120 when measured from the height of their motherboard too? (just in case the OCZ measurement from someone else doesn't fit)

As long as you dont have a slim model of a case youll be fine. Even a Mid-Tower ATX case will handle them fine.

Unfortunately, I don't rmember the brand of my tower because I just picked it up locally for around $20, it doesn't even tell me the brand as I'm searching for it right now lol.

I just want to verify that the heat sink fan I buy will actually fit in this case. And how slim are the slim model cases usually? this case is (in total) 7 inches wide (around 178 mm) from one side to the other side, but from mobo to one side, it's only around 165mm.

Check the inside depth. My CM690 is 8in deep to mobo tray. It can fit a 120x25mm (1in thick) fan between the case door and a tuniq. So as long as you have 7in your fine.
Edit: Im talking about INSIDE measurements, not outside.

Thanks so far for the input guys. I remeasured everything as exact as I could, and it seems there is around 168mm from my motherboard to my case side. So that's approximately (converting with 2.54 cm = 1 inch ) 6.61 inches.

So Grunion, the OCZ Vendetta 2 and Xigmatek are over 7 inches tall when measured from the motherboard? (since you say 7 inches isn't enough)

Thanks Mortimersnerd. I'm going to venture and say that I don't think your casefan that is 1 inch is touching your tuniq tower 120 however, so there's room between them. I'm just wondering that since I know that 7 inches is enough to clear a TT120, I am probably cutting it close with 6.61 or so inches, but I'm wondering how much space exactly is between the TT120 and that casefan of yours, hopefully more than 0.4 inches
