Will i need a new PSU?

Thread Starter
Hi

i am about to update my motherboard to a ASROCk socket AM2 board,
The specs are here:http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(14521)...rce-3-250.aspx
This board is very cheap and means i wont have to buy a new card, my current agp one will do just fine, although a 3850 agp could be on the cards!
i will also buy an AMD Athlon 64 4600X2 2.5Ghz off microdirect!
Will i need a new psu, i have a 450W Pentium 4 PSU currently, what wattage will i need and what make/model should i aim for!
bearing in mind i am only 15 years old and money is very tight for me and my family, my current pc was a gift and has been upgraded over the last year!

Look on the side of your PSU and check your amperage across your rails.
I've read somewhere that ATi recommends something like 25amps on a seperate 12v rail.
However, these figures are almost always inflated.
You should be fine depending on the quailty of your PSU.
With the gear you have now, the motherboard and processor upgrade will not require a PSU upgrade.
