Asus has now unveiled a new OC Gear-equipped graphics card bundle, the ROG (Republic of Gamers) EN9600GT OC GEAR/HTDI/512M. The new offer is basically made up of one GeForce 9600 GT and the overclocking-friendly and easy to use OC Gear bay.

The card itself is a blue-PCB, G94-powered 9600 GT with stock clocks - 650, 1625 and 1800 MHz (even though Asus' website says 1GHz) for the GPU, shaders and memory, equipped with a Glaciator Fansink. As for the OC Gear, it features a 89mm x 31.6mm LCD which offers info about the card's frequencies, the GPU temperature and fan speed, and has a knob that, once turned, will see the 9600 GT's clocks go up to where you want them (in reasonable limits), thus providing easy overclocking.

The new EN9600GT OC GEAR will hit the stores later this month.

What overpriced foolishness this is. Get the card, get a Duorb or something, fire up Riva Tuner and do it yourself. You know what your frequencies are so who cares about an LCD? As for the "knob" I bet you dollars to donuts that you can get a higher, more stable overclock if you do it yourself.

All of these specialty products are useless except for people who have more money than brains.

Unless you can adjust the core / memory voltages, then it is just another card with some pretty features.

Though this does look good for the newbie freaks, who buy stuff for its l33t dials, pretty LED's, and pretty numbers printed out on a display.
