Overclocking.. I have ALWAYS viewed it as..

A. get more out of your machine.
B. Get higher clocks with a chip than anyone else has gotten with the same chip.

Why do you think people still OC'ed P4's even when C2D's were out?

For world records, because they wanted to get it higher than anyone else has gotten it. Even if it doesnt perform as good as the C2D, its still a much bigger accomplishment than saying "lol I get 3.6 on my C2D on air".
Exactly!! I got more satisfaction taking my fx60 to 3GHz then ever getting my q6600 to 3.6 (too easy)

Hopefully this isn't just a one-off freak chip, and the BE's actaully become something.

well every one uses google, or some other search engine, to find their news, i'm sure they go hunting for it, but still it's a little nice to have the news updated on OCN.....

If he can boot on 1.48v is'nt it very possible that with 1.55-1.6v it might b stable?
Not necessarily. There is sort of a "critical" point at which no matter how much you increase the voltage the chip will not be stable. So in short, no.

Cool. I saw a post on here stating something to the effect:

"Overclocking an Intel is like making a bowl of cereal while overclocking an AMD is like baking a souffle." How true. One of the most fun OCs I have accomplished was my Windsor (see sig link) There are many more things to consider and it is truely an art.

To all the "performance fanboys", why don't we call this site lotsofmoney.net as thats all you need to get the top performance. Grow up. Its cool that you like one or the other, but lets try to be positive. it is very childish to bash the competition. I thought they taught that to you in preschool.

Right on. I love my Q6600, but the most rewarding overclock I have ever done was getting my Opty 165 from 1.8 to 2.8. Man at the tweaking I had to do.

All the childish comments are coming from the guys that never really had to tweak for that overclock. They have no idea.

Nice to see AMD making some noise. Looking like a better year for them, thank goodness.

Like I said....stop with the fanboyism or general responses looking for a rise. I am getting heavy on this now and punishments will be handed out.
