Thread Starter
just got done building my first pc...

specs:
GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35
Q6600
CORSAIR Dominator 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066
XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 heat sink
RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-530SS 530W ATX12V V2.2
Thermaltake Armor+MX VH8000BWS

soon to be an 8800gts, and a 500gp hd but right now i am borrowing a vc and a 40gp hd

any suggestions on overclocking? i tried a few things but nothing worked. would like to see this overclocked to at least 3.4

Try this for 3.6: 400fsb, x9 multi, 1.5 vcore, and 1.4 or whatever northbridge voltage your board will give you. If it's stable, start backing off on the voltages. If you need more than 1.5 vcore like me, really no amount of air cooling is gonna cut it for 3.6 ghz. 400fsb x8 multi will give you 3.2 ghz- If you want, you can try to find the max fsb that your board will be stable at by slowly increasing it while using a low multi (x6 or x7)

Otherwise, there's a ton of threads on this in the intel overclocking section- just look there, or try a search for "Q6600 overclocking" or some such thing. You might want to check out threads specific to your board- I sort of remember seeing a few of 'em.

hope this helps,

Intel Overclocking Guide: http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...ing-guide.html

Remember to take your time and not all Q6600's can hit 3.4 stable.

Good luck!
