[Fud] Radeon 4870 to beat 9800GTX

Thread Starter
To challenge Geforce GTX 260

"We've learned that ATI plans to put a lot of pressure on Nvidia as the Radeon HD 4870 will end up faster than the Geforce 9800GTX. This is the card that ATI wants to target with its new performance card and it looks like ATI is the winner in this game.

We’ve also heard that ATI expects to win against the Geforce GTX 260, especially when it comes to the price/performance ratio and we’ve learned that ATI should win at least some of the benchmarks or at least get close.

From all we know today, ATI’s card will end up cheaper which might make it more attractive, but it looks as if ATI will continue to mess with Nvidia’s plans. They messed up Nvidia’s suggested retail price with the RV670 and they don’t seem to stop with RV770 generation."

Uhhh....that's generally how business works. Then Nvidia's next gen card wil beat ATI's current gen card and the cycle will continue. Someone has to have the upper hand.
Were you stating the obvious for a reason or asking a question?

I'm expecting this to beat the GT260.........we'll see though. Judging by all of the adjusting on NVidia's behalf it seems that they're worried it will.
It would be fairly disappointing if it didn't beat the 900GTX though

I gotta say, wasn't this obvious? I mean, are they just looking for stuff to write about with these cards or whAT?

And the 8800 Ultra beats the 9800GTX so that doesnt say much either about the new ATI card.

I am sure there will be a market besides just ATI fans as long as the price is right you can sell anything.

I have went back and forth between ATI and Nvidia many times over the past 5-6 years and ATI is just taking the back seat for now and playing the price game.

No he's being sarcastic asking why it's at all impressive that ATI next-gen card can beat Nvidia's current-gen card... We shouldn't be comparing the RV770 to the 9800GTX but rather the 9900GTX (Nvidia's next-gen).

Lets not

They are two different catagories, you seemed to miss quite a few news postings mate

New ATI Cards = Smashing up the Price/Performance market, mainstream 'alrite GPU'

New Nvidia Cards = Awful Price/Performance, high end market, best epeen GPU

The ATI Cards wernt made to compete with the high end Nvidia ones, yet they are doing a pretty good job
