You don't even need two 3870's to beat the 8800GTX at high res with AA and AF, 1 does just fine

The game is Clive Barker's Jericho

That test is a load of faked up crap.

Pretty much everyone knows that the 8800GTX / Ultra is quit a lot better than a single 3870.

Hahah well I'd hope to god that the 4870 out perfroms the 9800gtx.

Does anyone else think it's silly to think that it might not? What would be the point of releasing it if it doesn't? :/

Ok, this is not really on topic but it's REALLY ****ING ANNOYING. STOP USING LOOSE INSTEAD OF LOSE. JESUS CHRIST. I've seen it happen like 6 times in this thread already.

/endrant

Now, on topic. The 4870 is being compared to a 9800GTX because that is what we actually have and CAN compare it to. Last time I checked, the GTX 260 and 280 were not released yet. If the 4870 can get close or on par with a GTX 260 (like this article is suggesting), then ATI is in a really good postion. Their new chips were designed to be used in multi-gpu solutions, while Nvidia's new chip are big, hot, and power hungry, not for multi-gpu solutions.(at least for now).

Hah, its pretty funny/ironic that you said that, because i JUST got home from work, and checked OCN.

Sorry for thinking your parents bought your parts. I just didn't think you were old enough to have a job... Considering you come off as a 13, maybe 14 year old.

Do remember the flagship will be the 4870x2 soon as it comes out. Which should with little doubt win a total victory. Especially with nVidia's chips so hot and power sucking in 9900 along with so low yielding, i don't see them being able to make a feasible dual-chip card to compete.
