How hard is it to remount the cpu fan? It looks to be held on with 2 screws. Just unscrew, take it off and put it back on? Could I do it with never doing it before? Thanks for all the help.
That is way to hot. I hope you did not pay alot for this computer. Poor overclocking service and power supply choice. If I were you i would return it for a refund and/or request that the problem be fixed. I am sure if you start tinkering around on the inside off it and something breaks, your warranty will not cover it.

Thanks BTW CPUZ says 356 bus speed and 1424 rated FSB. And 3.204 MHZ Core speed. What a joke the company told me it would be Professionaly OCd to 3.4ghz and cpuz says 3.2. Should I lower FSB in bios???

Yeah, they are trying to get over on you dude. They do not sound like they know what they are doing.

There is probably way to much TIM on the CPU.

I would not do a thing to try and help them out of their screw up. I would request a full refund.

Well they said they will pay for a new cpu fan. Any suggestions what kind to request? What is the absolute best cpu fan for q600. Thanks again in advance.

that Zalman you have is a decent cooler...

next step would be tuniq tower or thermalright ultra 120 extreme then of corse water..

but you current fan should keep it cool @ 3.2 if seated properly and voltage is reasonable.

what voltage does cpu-z read?

3.2 should be 1.4 or lower in most cases

better off not having them try and screw you over again. On another note get them to install a TRUE or Tuniq....

CPUZ says 356 bus speed and 1424 rated FSB. Thanks for everyone's help. Never had so much help from a forum before.
NOTE: I have now taken ambient room temperature and it is 78-79 degrees Farenheit. Could this be part of the problem? My apartment has aweful A/C. I also took the computer in to local shop and told them to remount the cpu fan and make sure there is proper thermal paste and told them if that doesnt do it to put a better fan on there for me. I'll keep you guys posted.

Ambient temp is warm, but not really a problem.

I would take it back, they obviously ripped you off, or you got a TERRIBLE Q6600. Those chips thermal limit is 76c if I'm not mistaken. I'm surprised it isn't crashing.

You only need about a pea-sized dollop of paste on the HS.

On a side note: 450w PSU with dual 3870's in crossfire... GOD damn they ripped you off.

Fun fact:
Thermal spec indicates the maximum temperature allowed on the surface of the CPU, not the physical cores. Q6600's don't even start throttling, let alone crashing until you hit 100 degrees on the cores.

Oh yeah, the thermal spec is 70 degrees too.

I think you should just return the rig, and let us help you build a new one .

The Jackasses at the ETC computers in Canada, say they will fix it if I pay the shipping (approx $50, they only want UPS) to Canada both ways!!!! I am so angry. Used a debit card and my bank said a dispute in this instance is unlikely because they delivered the product as they said they would , even if it is a poor product. I will try to dispute it anyhow on the grounds that they advertised q6600 computer 'professionally OC'd to 3.4ghz not the 3.2ghz that it has been (kind of) running at since i've received it.
