Hah new someone would asked that . Well I’m trying to install the tuniq tower and its kind of hard holding the black plate while attaching the tuniq tower and screwing the screws all at the same time. I just want the tape to hold it for 2mins then take it rite off.

set it on a flat surface and put a piece of the card board box it came in beneath the backplate....

I dont think duct tape will hold any electrical value, but the adheasive sure is messy..

Got any painters tape?

much better than duct tape

the adheasive glue used on duct tape tends to stay even when tape is removed, although fingernail polish remover will take it off too...

Best way is to get a second pair of hands...... my girl always assists me when im doing it... she gets happy cauz shes helping too

in short: no duck tape will not hurt the mobo

UNLESS while you rip it off you take off some chips/components with it

i would rather not use duck tape on the mobo for several reason:
1) if it's old it's probably sticky and will leave a residue no matter how short you leave it on for

2) it just doesn't seem right to see / think duck tape on a mobo

3) even if it's just for a short time. duck tape is quite strong.

i'd go with the suggestion of using painter's tape if you had some. since you don't. try electrical tape.

but in short, no it shouldn't hurt

I use electrical tape to hold my tuniq backplate on. I acutall made a pad for the back with electrical tape. And it was GOOD.

Duct tape won't cause any harm for that short a time. If you're concerned about glue residue, stick the tapegently to your pants leg, then pull it off before you stick it to your mobo. That will remove any excess adhesive, and the small amount of lint from your pants will lessen the stickiness just enough to prevent problems. This trick works with masking tape also.
