A few questions about the 8800gt

Thread Starter
Looking to get a card under 200 dollars and then upgrade in a year or in 2 years

Is the driver issue fixed were the fps would drop to 50 or 60 in css or cod4 randomly? and is the overheating issue fixed?

Is this the best card under $200?

will it max out css and get 200 fps+ at 1024 x 768 res and 1680x1050 res?

how much fps will I get in call of duty 4 at 1024 x 768 res and 1680x1050 res?

will this card bottleneck a E8400?

Is this card better then a 8800 at this price?

$150

I have no issues with mine in COD4 or CSS. I think I get around 40FPS in COD4 @1680x1050 and get 150+ in CSS. The best card under 200 would be a G92 8800GTS but a 8800GT performs almost the same for less $. And yes, it will work fine with an E8400, neither one will be a bottleneck.

1. There was never an issue with FPS dropping, unless it was in a resource intensive scene.
2. There never was an overheating issue with the 8800GTs in cases with decent airflow. And the heatsink has been revised.
3. Unless you can find a better one for under $200.
4. No. It'll get about 150FPS completely maxed out in CSS at 1024 x 768. No idea about other resolutions.
5. Over 125 FPS in CoD4 maxed out with 4xAA at 1024 x 768. About 90 - 100 (ish) FPS at 1680 x 1050 without any AA (Which is not needed in CoD4 at the resolution.
6. Yes, it will. Games hardly require much CPU power.
7. Not that I am aware of.
